DATAEX PROTECTION OF THE OBC (ON-BOARD-COMPUTER)

With DataEX installed on the vehicle OBC any sensitive or "mission critical" data such as authentication for unlocking the car or deploying airbags etc. will be securely protected within the vault.

Only through authentication can these be accessed. Authentication can be external and internal. If the latter e.g. from accident sensors, then an embedded executable file will provide authentication to trigger the airbags as an example. The subtle difference is that no malware may trigger this if correctly configured. Essentially, DataEX will provide a firewall between critical functions and sensors so that no malware can intrude.

In the event that malware infiltrates the vehicle via wifi or even a sim card, it cannot trigger a valid authentication to access the DataEX vault in order to trigger "mission critical" processes.

The recommendation would be to install an IDAT SimEX for network access to prevent any potential malware infiltration as a first line of defense. Additional authentication levels can be added such as SimEX enabled mobile phone generated codes or even via the user's RF enabled bank card with CardEX.

CARDEX PROTECTION FROM THE KEY ACCESS DEVICE

The vehicle "key" is essentially an access card. IDAT technology is then installed within a smart chip which is fitted to the vehicle key. The IDAT technology has embedded tokenisation, meaning that every 5 minutes a new unpredictable token is generated within the key smart card to authenticate with the vehicle. The vehicle having the same algorithm and authentication base KEY matches the authentication token (SHA3 Hash) and if they match, will allow access. The 5 minute "check" can be increased/decreased as per the manufacturer's specification and the process is completely seamless and unknown to the vehicle user.

These time sensitive tokens are twice encrypted. First with a proprietary algorithm named Trinity, which is time sensitive and secondly with AES256 to create a SHA3 hash token. This is the same impenetrable encryption used in our other solutions e.g. CardEX bank cards.

Using OBC data protection with DataEX and dynamic secure external access with CardEX in the vehicle keys, both ends of the vulnerable points of a vehicles are secured.
